They are winners of BBC2 Folk Award in 2018. And they are the hottest on the folk scene in Glasgow right now. They are Ìmar.
Their debut video, L’Air Mignonne, went viral during Celtic Connections in 2016 and their debut album “Afterlight” was released the following year. This was followed by a long tour period where Ìmar played in England, Scotland, Isle of Man, and at festivals in Ireland, Denmark, and Canada.
Ìmar’s second album, “Avalance”, was released in October 2018 after a summer full of even more festivals in Scotland, England, Denmark, Belgium, Isle of Man, Spain, Ireland, USA, and Canada.

Adam Brown (bodhrán), Adam Rhodes (bouzouki), Mohsen Amini (concertina), Ryan Murphy (uilleann pipes), and Tomás Callister (violin) share a strong background within Irish music – although they come from different places such as Ireland, Isle of Man, Glasgow, and Suffolk. Ìmar’s unmistakeable synergy, however, is currently centered around the overlapping cultural heritage that there is between the different native countries. And when they first open the bag of musical pearls, you are in for a true folk party!
